And They Ate It All Up!

Started out the morning pretty adventurous and excited to try out porridge for the first time ever.  It is smoother and creamier than oatmeal and not too grainy.  It is warm and has a milky bready flavor.  Of course it is perfect with a dollop of honey!  Only, when I got ready to eat my warm breakfast goodness... someone had been eating my porridge and they ate it all up!!

By lunch we were starving and decided to get a burger British style... You got it, bacon slabs and an egg... cholesterol and deliciousness off the charts!

We did some shopping after work since for some reason London stores all close around 5pm, except on Thursdays they stay open later. After that we stopped to see Avni at Prezzo again one more time before Johnnalynn heads home for a couple of weeks... he was so sweet and convinced us we should have dessert, which was a fantastic idea! Honeycomb Cheesecake (a bear favorite) with Chocolate and Vanilla Raspberry Panacotta.

Now it's time to go make sure someone is not sleeping in my bed, and if so, she may still be there!

Only You Can Prevent Friend Fires!

Finally got some postcards off today :)

Noticed something on the train that may come in handy if anyone gets stuck in the door :P

After work we had an exciting dinner... went to a place called Acorn.  We saw a funny sign and Johnnalynn decided to take a photo, only she didn't notice the candle on the table and leaned a little too close with her hair and poof! that fast, she was on fire!  Luckily there was a Smokey-the-Bear-in-training right there to put it out before she lost all her hair... it was just singed a bit on the ends :)

Here is the sign that nearly cost Johnnalynn's pretty hair... still pretty funny :P

Quote of the Day:  "Johnna, you're on fire!"

To Market To Market...

Took a trip to the grocery store, Sainsbury's, and thought you might like to see what it looks like...

Now it's time for the evening tea... just got a new box of Lady Gray... yum!

Lazy Day!

Sooo exhausted yesterday that we had to have a slow leisurely day... besides working of course.

Had our first pasty while here... it tasted like a chicken pot pie in a bread pouch.  We were told that originally they were made for miner's to have lunch while working in the mines and they could hold the thick crust like a handle and then throw that part away when they were done so they wouldn't ingest anything harmful.  Now we just eat the whole thing :P

After work we went to The Old Ship for more fish and chips and tried a Kronenbourg 1664 beer.  I think that will be the last of the fish and chips for a few days... a week of it may have been too much... today I can't think about any more meat and potatoes. At lunchtime today, I will be in search of salad. :)

We went to see a movie, which you get assigned seating for at the theater, and VIP seats up front are extra.  Also stopped by for a coffee with our new Yugoslavic friend, Avni, who works at the Italian restaurant Prezzo right next to the theater.  He made us coffee served with biscotti, on the house, if we promised to come see him again this week... and we will! :)

This morning was a very slow and sleepy one... the face waiting for the morning train to work tells it all...

Stopped at Pret for the usual morning latte and croissant... time to get this day started and wake up!

More later when I am fully awake.

Made it to Buckingham Palace!

Today we started with an English breakfast and then headed on a long journey to see Buckingham Palace.  We got a little misguided by the crazy train map and ended up taking a bus back to another train station, then yet another train, and walked down several different roads until we stumbled on the Palace... luckily for us it is pretty big and easy to see.  We can now say that we have truly experienced London transportation.  We picked a rainy day to see the palace, but that is the way most London days are, so it was more authentic that way!  We went to the Clarence for dinner and had a beer called Doom Bar and of course more fish and chips!  The bartender even let your favorite bear pour the drinks :)

I was so excited to meet up with some of my British relatives in one of the souvenir shops! :)

Off to bed, work day tomorrow!

Picadilly Circus, Chinatown, London Eye, and Big Ben!

What a big day we had... action-packed!!  First we got a bite to eat at Sussex, the fish and chips there may have been the best yet! The ladies tried a beer called "Old Speckled Hen."  Then we walked through Chinatown and Piccadilly Circus.  Last stop of the evening was the London Eye and Big Ben... just breathtaking to look at, we couldn't stop staring at them.  Had a little run in with the local cops because bears have a curfew and we were out pretty late.  We will be going back again so we can ride the London Eye in the daylight and get more pictures to share :)

Quick cup of tea, then time for this bear to hibernate for the night... more to do before the weekend is over!

Rainy day and Out and About!

Today was the first rainy day we experienced... but perfect weather for tea, crumpets, potato leek soup, baguettes, and umbrellas!

This evening we went out around Kingston where our flat is and checked out Bentalls, the local mall.

We took a bunch of photos and some crazy english boys stopped before getting on the bus and said "hey, you wanna take our picture?" so we did.

Best of all, I found some new shorts during my shopping that made me look like quite the local! :)

 Til tomorrow!
